NOTES FROM THE EDITOR

πŸ’§The simplest funnel breakdown

Happy New Year and welcome to your first marketing quiz of 2025!

Let's say you know nothing about marketing but you need to attract clients. Where would you start?

Well, it's not really a quiz, the answers are below...

Option One: Rely on insurance companies, or intermediaries like Alma or Headway. You could also become an independent contractor for another practice and not worry about generating new leads at all.

But if you want to have more control of your practice's growth, your financial future, and the type of clients you would like to work with, you may like option two better.

Option Two: Putting together a cohesive marketing system.

However, the challenge for many of us is building a reliable system that allows us to tweak it as needed without fundamentally changing everything we're doing. Another challenge is creating something unique for mental health providers.

This is the puzzle that I was trying to solve throughout 2024. After all, every practice owner has unique needs and resources. But today, I'm happy to report that I have an answer for you.

After working with dozens of practice owners one-on-one, I came up with the simplest funnel that can consistently generate new leads to your practice and attract the clients who are the best fit for your practice (no ads). Here's the step-by-step breakdown:

  1. Start by putting together your strategy. This means identifying your Ideal Client, defining your brand, and your core marketing message.
  2. Build your online presence. Build a website that includes a blog, a contact form for booking appointments, and a form to add people to your email list with an enticing "freebie". Create 3 optimized profiles on Psychology Today, Google Business Listings, and LinkedIn. You can add other platforms to your list, but the above three are most essential.
  3. Generate Leads. Direct all of your online activity and networking to your website where people can either book and appointment with you or join your email list.
  4. Nurture your leads. Once people download your freebie a.k.a lead magnet, you can send them an automated welcome email campaign. This "nurture" campaign should provide value, educate, and promote your services. It should include a sequence of 5-7 emails. After that, you can add a promotional campaign or just send weekly/monthly newsletters.
  5. Follow up with potential clients. Got a new inquiry or free consultation? Put together a follow up process that allows you to be in charge of the conversation.

As you can see, this funnel is flexible enough to accommodate additional marketing channels and simple enough to implement if you have limited resources.

It doesn't rely on a particular platform or marketing channel but on a process with a robust foundation.

If you want more clients in 2025, try this system out and let me know what you think. And if you'd like my help building it, let's chat.

And now to the news!
